Realme GT Neo Features MediaTek Dimensity 1200; the New Budget Flagship is Coming Soon

This week at the launch event for their latest value flagship, Realme introduced the Realme GT 5G; they also teased an upcoming edition of this phone, the GT Neo. We have its chipset details and a tentative launch timeline.

The Realme GT is currently the cheapest phone powered by Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 888. The Neo edition, in a similar vein, adopts the Dimensity 1200 —  the highest-end chip on MediaTek’s catalog this year. If the standard GT is any guide, the Realme GT Neo will become the most affordable Dimensity-1200-based phone (more on that in a few.)

We’ll hear more about its features as the promotional campaign goes on, but in the meantime, the Dimensity 1200 is built on a 6nm fabrication process, compared to the 5nm wafer inside the Realme GT. Its performance cores are clocked at 3.0GHz, and it has the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU baked into it. The chipset offers 22% better graphics and CPU performance over last year’s Dimensity 1000+.

The upcoming addition to the Realme price list will be announced pretty soon. The semiconductor manufacturer has previously gone on record to say that Realme’s first phone running on the Dimensity 1200 will come out either in late March or early April — just in time for the first Redmi gaming phone that uses the Dimensity 1200.

The base variant of Realme GT 5G starts from 2,899 Yuan (~ Rs. 69,999), but given it’s a trimmed-down edition, the GT Neo is speculated to cost 2,000 Yuan (~ Rs. 48,000). You can also expect the two models to share at least some features. To recall, the GT 5G has next-gen quick storage and memory, 65W fast-charging, and a 120Hz OLED display.
