Following its long-stretched time in leaks and teasers, the Xiaomi Redmi 12C, the Global variant, goes official in an overseas market. The numbered series from Xiaomi subsidiary Redmi boasts cost-efficient devices — the newcomer 12C has the same trait. Read on to find out more.
The phone is not new by any means; it first appeared in China in December 2022. Despite their varying model numbers, Redmi 12C Global packs identical features to its Chinese counterpart.
Newcomer Redmi 12C ships in three memory variants, starting with lower-end 3GB + 32GB, middle league 4GB + 64GB, and high-end 4GB + 128 GB. Color choices in the phone are limited; users can opt for either Graphite Gray or Ocean Blue.
With its Helio G85 engine, the 12C comes with MIUI 13 x Android 12, LPDDR4x RAM, and eMMC 5.1 type storage. The system runs a cleaner and optimized version of the operating system. On the front, Redmi 12C has a large 6.71-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution and partially uniform bezels enveloping it. A drop notch melts into the screen to house a 5MP selfie shooter, doing 1080p videos at 30FPS. In design, 12C has a texturized backplate with diagonal stripes and a circular cutout for the fingerprint sensor.
The dual AI camera setup on the back features an alpha 50MP shooter assisted by a depth mapper. Inside its slightly raised black-accented platform lies a flash and a Redmi emblem. On the sides, it has a power key, volume rocker, and a sim tray with a microSD slot.
The Battery capacity on 12C is standard 5000mAh. It sports 10W recharge using a Micro USB port. In price, the lower-end variant costs ~$90, and the cost goes all the way up to ~$115 for its premium most offering. With current exchange rates, the former translates to ~Rs 24,800, and the latter is ~Rs 31,600. Redmi 12C is to retail in Indonesia for a while.
