Towards the end of August, Xiaomi unveiled Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro and proved once again that it can bring flagship killer smartphones on a budget. Then came the Redmi 8A just a week ago and now we have the Chinese manufacturer's official announcement that it'll be unveiling the Redmi 8 in few days on October 9.
That being said, Xiami Redmi 8 will go on sale in India first before it can make it to other countries. The phone was already spotted on China Telecom’s official site earlier, following an appearance on TENNA’s listings, which already pointed to a global release just around the corner.
Aside from the spec sheet provided when Redmi 8 went through TENNA’s listings, we also caught a glimpse of some hands-on live photos of the phone. They confirmed the design and camera build, as well as the specs for the internals.

There aren’t many headline-grabbing features or innovations sitting on Redmi 8, but it’s a solid mid-range phone with some decent above-average hardware. It is rocking a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a water-drop notch and a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor. Around the back, you’re looking at a plastic panel with a vertically arranged twin-camera setup and a capacitive fingerprint reader. The primary shooter is a 12 MP coupled with a 2 MP depth sensor.
Where it falls short in display and cameras, the Redmi 8 makes up for it with its internals. The massive 5,000 mAh battery would be the highlight of the spec sheet which is beefy enough to get you through a day of heavy usage and still have some charge left. The new Xiaomi is powered by a Snapdragon 439 SoC paired with a generous 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of native storage. You also get support for up to 1 TB of expandable storage.
The design language of the Xiaomi Redmi 8's back panel is oddly reminiscent of some recent Nokia smartphones and it will be available in four different colors: Black, Blue, Red, and Green. The phone is expected to retail around 8,999 INR in India which comes to roughly 20,000 PKR, not including taxes. Do you think the price of this mid-ranger is unmerited?
