Redmi A1, last year's lite-budget treat, is about to get replaced by Xiaomi Redmi A2. To recall, the A1 series by Xiaomi houses MediaTek's Helio A22 SoC and 6.52-inch IPS HD+ screen. Under the hood lies 3GB + 32GB memory backed by a 5000mAh cell and 10W charging speed — a surprisingly well-rounded phone for under $100. Following suit, Redmi A2 is sure to be another winner.
The newcomer A2 has turned up on multiple certifications before its official release, confirming the model number and its nearing launch. And moments ago, the ever-credible leak source, WinFuture, gave away crucial details about the phone, including some official renders. Here's what the new leak entails.
Talking about the design first, based on the source images, Redmi A2 appears to have the same build as its predecessor. Matte texturized finish on the back, dual camera setup, drop notch on the front, and seemingly chunky bezels enveloping the screen. With a rehashed design, some upgrades are imminent with the device.
The report from the WinFuture suggests a new MTK chipset under Redmi A2's hood. MediaTek recently made it official. It's a sequel to the entry-level Helio G35 chip. The new chip goes by Helio G36, and the A2 might be the first phone to receive it. The latest Xiaomi A mobile should inherit the remaining spec sheet from its forerunner.
With an HD+ screen, the new Redmi A mobile will likely ship in multiple storage variants, and to streamline the performance, there will be an Android 13 Go edition running on it by default. There will be an 8MP primary camera and an unspecified secondary sensor on the back. Booting it up will be a 5,000mAh battery resting under the chassis, backed by 10W charging. Its launch is nearing, with a price tag expected to be €97 or ~27,346. 10C is another popular handset in the local market which is already available on the shelves. Redmi Xiaomi 10C price in Pakistan is PKR 41,000.
