Next up, after the Galaxy A15, we now wait for the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G’s debut. Of course, the launch is months away. But hints of the phone’s global variant have crossed our sights multiple times. And we now see the same phone up on Geekebench’s scoreboard.
Samsung has assigned ‘SM-A166E’ as the model code for Galaxy A16 5G. It looks to be the global variant, not much different than the ‘SM-A166P’ USA device we saw earlier on Geekbench. They get what we believe is the cheapest 5G-enabled SoC on the market — an 8-core Dimensity 6300 doing 2.4 GHz clock speed.
They tested the base of Samsung's new budget 5G mobile here, the most minimal configuration of this device with 4G RAM. We will probably find better RAM options with it (likely 6GB and 8GB), but for this specific option, the benchmark scores are 967 and 1971 for single and multiple cores.
While testing, you must always note the Geekbench version because some versions, like the Geekbench 6 here, tend to be lenient with scoring. Scores might be different at your end once you get your hands on one of the A16s after its debut.
Android 14 is what awaits the Galaxy A16 5G. Or at least, that’s what it says on the Geekbench scorecard. The old Galaxy A15 had the mint Android 14 when it arrived. So it’s more than possible that the newer A16 5G bags the Android 15. That about wraps up all the Galaxy A16 5G details from Geekbench.
