Samsung Galaxy A16 Launched in Pakistan with 6-Year OS Support & 90Hz AMOLED

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A16 in October for the first time, and we’ve been waiting for its deployment in Pakistan ever since. Well, we are pleased to report that the wait is over and Samsung has released this device in our local market, with two memory options, no less.

Galaxy A16 has landed in Pakistan with a lower 6/128 GB memory trim and an expensive but far more hefty 8/256 GB storage and RAM duo. This phone is the first in its price range to promise 6-year Android OS support and patch security till 2030. You can update this device to Android 20.

Last year’s A15 didn’t have any dust or water protection, but the A16 upgrades the durability to an IP54 rating, which is also the first in Samsung’s entry-class. Its thickness has also gone down. Galaxy A16 only measures 7.9mm in profile, so it’s 0.5mm thinner than the old phone.

This newer version may have the same sAMOLED 90Hz refresh rate panel, but they’ve bumped its size from 6.5” to 6.7.” The resolution is 1080p FHD+. Nothing else seems to have changed, not even the SoC. Galaxy A15 had a Helio G99 chip, and so does the Galaxy A16.

Camera specs are quite decent here. Samsung's latest budget phone’s front shooter is a 13 MP shooter, hiding under the notched bezel. That back camera also seems a well-built setup: 50MP main sensor, 5MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro. All lenses are functional and do recording at 1080p 30FPS.

WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3 are about what you would expect from an entry-level phone. 5000mAh battery and 25W fast charging are the same as last time and this year’s colors are Gray, Water Green, and Midnight Blue. Galaxy A16 (6/128GB) costs Rs 54,999, and (8/256GB) variant demands Rs 61,999.
