Samsung Galaxy A21 Pops Up on Geekbench; Runs on a MediaTek Helio P35 Chip

Now that the Samsung Galaxy A11 has gone official, the model next in line for release is the entry-level Galaxy A21. Samsung trademarked the phone last year, and it has now been spotted on Geekbench’s listing bearing the same model name.

The Samsung Galaxy A21 (or as the listing refers to it, SM-A215U) will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 platform, coupled with at least 3GB of RAM, the phone might launch with more than one memory variants at different Samsung prices. It scored 782 on its single-core benchmarking test and 3996 points on the multi-core test. The listing doesn’t specify battery details but it does confirm that the Galaxy A21 will ship with Samsung’s OneUI 2.0 running atop Android 10.

Early leaked renders point to a design language similar to the aforementioned Galaxy A11. Samsung has lopped off the dew-drop notch and replaced it with a punch-hole sitting in a corner of the Infinity-O display. The panel is likely a SuperAMOLED panel carried over from the Galaxy A20, capable of delivering an FHD+ resolution.

You get a quad-camera array on the back (which isn’t typical of entry-level smartphones) and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that sits in the middle. The optics hardware is an impressive step up from the twin-camera which A21’s predecessor rocked. The build includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port.

Speculation suggests that the phone will draw power from a 4,000 mAh cell with support for 15W fast charging. Yet different rumors claim that the phone will pack a 5,000 mAh battery — an upgrade makes more sense since the Galaxy A20 and A10 both feature 4,000 mAh batteries.

At present, there are no additional details available regarding availability or the Samsung price tag. But given that the phone has found its way to Geekbench’s database, its official launch shouldn’t be far off.
