Samsung is introducing the new line of Galaxy A-series phones soon, starting with the Samsung Galaxy A42. We were given an early preview of the phone in September. Plus, a handful of its screen details. But Samsung has now published the entire specification sheet in the form of an infographic — giving us everything we need to know about the upcoming A42 5G.
Unlike the Prism Crush designs from the last generation, the Samsung Galaxy A42 has the all-new ‘Prism Dot’ design. It presents a dotted holographic finish on a layered gradient backdrop, available in Black, White, and Gray colors. The camera layout has also changed from the stacked design to a more compact and symmetric matrix.
The look on the front hasn’t changed, though. It’s the same bezel-less screen with a U-shaped notch that houses. But this SuperAMOLED panel has grown from 6.1” to 6.6” with a fingerprint scanner embedded underneath.
Other than the visual overhaul, Samsung is also bumping up the performance with the Galaxy A42. This season, we’ll be seeing 5G connectivity across the board with the new A-series models. The Korean phone maker is reluctant as always to give out the processor powering the A42 5G, but we speculate it might be the Snapdragon 750G. It’s combined with 8GB/6GB/4GB of memory (a solid upgrade from A41’s 4GB of RAM) and 128GB of storage (double the 64GB of ROM its predecessor has). The native storage is user-expandable up to 1TB and all of that at an affordable Samsung mobile price.
An extra 1500 mAh has been added to the 3500 mAh battery that the Samsung Galaxy A41 featured. The bigger 5000 mAh battery serves to maximize battery life now that the phone has a resource-hungry 5G modem onboard. It still charges over 15W, so recharging times might take a hit.
The Galaxy A42 has four cameras instead of three -- the additional sensor being a 5MP macro shooter. The 48MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and the 5MP depth configuration is inherited from the A41. But the front camera has been trimmed down to 20MP from 25MP.
