While we wait for the first stable release of the new Android11-based OneUI 3.0 to come out, the OneUI 2.5 that was introduced earlier in August is reaching more devices. It was first rolled out to the Galaxy Z, S, and Note flagships, but the Galaxy A series is getting the update too now. Shortly after the Samsung Galaxy A71 received the OneUI 2.5 upgrade, the brand is deploying it for Galaxy A51.
The Galaxy A51 is one of Samsung’s most popular releases this year and it’s guaranteed to receive three OS upgrades — Android11 through Android13. The update has the OneUI 2.5 is built on Android10, plus a new security patch.
It’s meant to enrich the Android10 experience further with new features — a new Always On Display, camera tweaks like Single Take and Pro Video, SOS support for the Messages app, Wireless Dex, and an improved keyboard.
The official changelog isn’t available at the time of writing but not all these features will be making it to the Samsung Galaxy A51 because it lacks the flagship hardware. DeX, for instance, would not be ported over (the A71 update didn’t have it), remaining exclusive to the Note, Z, and S series.
As for the technical details, the Samsung Galaxy A51 update’s version is ‘A515FXXU4CTJ1’ and it carries the October 2020 security patch. And it should weigh at least 1 GB.The first market to receive the update was Russia, and it should quickly become available in other countries, including Pakistan.
You can navigate to the Settings menu and tap the Software Update button to see if the upgrade has reached your Galaxy A51.
