It’s the middle of the month and Samsung has picked up the pace, updating all its Galaxy phones with the new December 2024 patch. Galaxy A54, among those phones, has picked up the upgrade package in the US, and it’s only a matter of time before other regions do the same.
Samsung’s December update was seen on some of the carrier-locked versions of Galaxy A54 in the USA. ‘A546USQSACXKE’ is the build version for the post-update firmware on SM-A546U and that will be your first clue when Checking for Updates.
This update will boost your Galaxy A54’s security on three levels. Of course, the package fixes some of the weak points in Samsung’s own One UI 6, but details confirm security patches for the underlying Android 14 and problems with the Exynos 1380 chip.
Samsung has marked this update as a high priority because of the new-found critical vulnerabilities in Samsung's latest budget phones. Galaxy A54 users in Pakistan may also need to install the update as soon as it arrives to implement the patches in the December 2024 update.
Galaxy phones usually send alerts to the notification center when an update is available. You tap on it and that brings you to the Download menu. But in case you missed it, visit Settings >> Software Updates and tap ‘Check for Update.’ If an update is available, a new menu will show the Changelog and the ‘Download and Install’ button for the 2024 December patch.
