Samsung Galaxy A55 Rolls Out January 2025 Security Patch for Enhanced Protection

Galaxy A55 has grabbed a new security update that should fix Google and One UI-bound issues discovered in the current firmware build. We hear the January 2024 patch is now available for Samsung A55 users to install in select global markets, and this update might be a critical one.

This security patch is reaching Galaxy A55 phones in Asia, Mexico, Panama, the Middle East, and a few others, more specifically, the SM-A556E version of the phone. So, if that’s your device (check in the About section from Settings), your A55 will be updated with the new firmware “A556EXXS6AYA5.”

January patch has five critical patches that you might not want to miss, according to Samsung. These are much-needed security fixes in the core Android system from Google, among the 29 total fixes for minor to major weak points in the Galaxy A55 system.

Of course, the One UI also has a stake in this new patch. This Samsung latest 5G model will also see 22 fixes for Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items, some of which have been reported as critical threats. Someone might execute codes in your device to gain access, so this update is a must if you hold your privacy dear.

Your A55 might have already checked for updates and sent you an alert for the January 2025 patch release. The users in Asia, including Pakistan, might be receiving the patch as we speak, so make sure to Check for Updates in the usual navigation path: Setting >> Software Updates.

After doing the last step, a changelog will appear with a Download and Install button. All you need to do then is wait for the update to load and reboot the phone to complete installation. There might be some software optimizations involved, but none were mentioned by name at least.

This update has been lacking in features or quality-of-life improvements on every device we have seen. Samsung is probably gatekeeping those for the future One UI 7 update, as the company doesn’t want to downplay the importance of the new Android 15 build.

The successor to the Samsung Galaxy A54, aka the A55, is the most expensive midrange phone from Samsung right now, so it might receive the One UI 7 stable update on priority once it is released. We’ll keep you posted on that front, so stick around.
