When it comes to the subject of selfie cameras, higher resolution doesn’t always make the phone a winner. Yes! In ancient times, having more pixel counts mattered for better selfies, but that formula has changed so much as we progressed.
Rumor has it that their Galaxy A56 will downsize its selfie cam to 12MP, but it could be an upgrade if you look at the bigger picture. A55 before it had a 32MP selfie unit but it’s an older sensor type they’ve been dragging from generation to generation for many years.
Folks at GalaxyClub sourced all the info about lenses they plan to use with Galaxy A56, and it seems the rear setup won’t be any different. But, the 12MP selfie cam alleged in this report is one big surprise for readers.
So how is it that a lower-res selfie camera be better overall for the next Galaxy A56? Phone cameras already have clarity, the lenses have gotten bigger, and more light enters the sensor, so we get sharper images — case in point, the A55’s 32MP selfie unit and S24’s 12 MP camera.
S24 takes way better images than S24 even though the A55 has more pixel count on paper. But, as we said, having more pixel count matters less and less these days, as those lenses have to account for things like pleasant depth-of-field, more dynamic range, color accuracy, etc. That’s why, you should count this downsizing for A55’s selfie cam an upgrade.
