The new Galaxy A generation isn’t the only line of budget phones Samsung currently has in the works. New Galaxy M-series phones are coming soon too. The Galaxy M33, the sequel to this year’s Samsung Galaxy M32, has been featured in pre-release benchmarks.
Samsung must have finalized the specs and design on their early prototypes for the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G because it has been benchmarked multiple times on Geekbench. The popular cross-platform benchmark lists the phone under the model number “SM-M336BU.” The listing contains benchmark scores and some system specs.
Before we get into the figures, the Galaxy M33 has the Exynos 1200 at its heart. The Exynos 1200 is a mid-range 5G chip that hasn’t come out yet (the “s5e8825” codename for the motherboard tells us so.) It seems to be Samsung’s new SoC of choice for its cheaper phones because the Galaxy A53 5G has been previously benchmarked with the same chip.
The Exynos 1200 on the new M33 Samsung mobile is paired with at least 6GB of memory. Android 12 x OneUI powers this hardware. When running tasks on a single core, the Galaxy M33 peaks at 726 points. The scores go up to 1830 when it’s engaging all cores.
Other runs through the benchmark produce numbers in the same ballpark. For context, the Galaxy M32 and its MediaTek chip max out at 501 and 1666 points, respectively. But note that pre-release benchmarks are rarely an accurate indicator of performance.
The Galaxy M33 5G has also been certified to rock a 6000 mAh battery — bigger batteries are often the highlight of Galaxy M phones. The launch timeline is still hazy, but rumors put its release date somewhere in January 2022.
