Samsung Galaxy S11 isn't due for launch until the first quarter of 2020, but we didn't know the exact launch date -- at least not until now. A German publication Matrixlife reports that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S11 lineup on February 11, 2019. The same source also reveals a handful of specs for S11's camera and display. Further, a set of fresh renders leaked by 91mobiles confirm these details. Let's take a closer look.
Like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S11 series will debut with three variants: S11, S11e, and S11+. We'll kick things off with the design. Pictured below, you're looking at a punch-hole sitting at the top-center (near-identical to the one on Galaxy Note 10). Samsung has completely shaved off the side-bezels and shrunken the chin and the forehead further. The display itself curves towards the edges, close to where the power button and volume rocker reside.
The AMOLED display measures 6.7 inches (6.9 inches for the 'plus' variant) and produces a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Save for a few Asus and Razr phones, a refresh rate this high isn't seen on most mainstream devices, but it will translate into a smoother UI experience. The Matrixlife leakster Oikonomou confirms that users will get the option to tweak the refresh rate settings to their liking.
The other highlight would be the long-rumored 108-megapixel unit that would be part of a quad-camera setup arranged in an inverted L-shaped design. We've seen a similar L-shaped alignment on the yet-to-be-released Galaxy A51 and A71 at amazing Samsung prices. The module has a rectangular design and houses an LED flash and laser autofocus, in addition to the four lenses.
The secondary camera units wowed us. As WhatMobile noted, you'll get a 48-megapixel telephoto lens that offers 10X lossless optical zoom and a jaw-dropping 100X hybrid zoom. In addition to these zooming capabilities, Samsung has also trademarked two new ‘Single Take’ and ‘Video Spin’ features.
Support for the 120 Hz refresh rate mentioned above comes from Samsung's Exynos 990 chipset, which also has a 5G modem baked into it. The battery featured will get support for 25W fast-charging.
