Samsung's new S series flagships are coming earlier than usual — perhaps even before 2020 ends. And as we're getting closer to the launch, the first mockups of the Galaxy S21 and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra have surfaced online, revealing another design overhaul with this Galaxy S generation.
The renders come from @OnLeaks, in collaboration with Voice. The phone leaker has a proven track record, so it won't be a stretch to see these early renders represent the final Samsung Galaxy S21 preview. The most obvious change is the camera plate, which now follows the contours of the phone. The bump still juts out from the back but it's a very original design nonetheless it.
The standard S20 has three cameras, bound inside an accenting ring. And as several reports have told us, the much-hyped under-display selfie camera won't be introduced with the S21 series. We're still looking at the centered Infinity O-hole cutout.
More to the point, however, the Samsung Galaxy S21 has a flat-screen now. The new design choice prevents accidental touches. Plus, the bezels are thinner than ever (the chin looks slimmer than the forehead). The glass material on the back gets a pure matte finish instead of recycling the glossy back trend that 2020 has already seen.
The oversized camera bump on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has grown to cover the top half of the S21 Ultra. The upcoming addition to the Samsung price list has the same wraparound camera island with four cameras. And the entire build is gigantic with possibly a 6.9” display and an 8.9 mm frame (not including the 2mm height of the camera housing).
Unlike the base variant, the S21 Ultra still features a curved display, but the bezels have been pushed back further and the hole-punch is smaller.
If these mockups are anything to go by, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra might have the most screen real estate on any Galaxy flagship yet.
