Samsung Galaxy S21 users in select Latin American countries can now rejoice as the latest July security update starts to roll out in the region. The OTA features the latest security patch, which aims to bolster the security of the Galaxy S21 series. The same update graced the S23 and S22 lineups a few days ago.
The firmware version G99xBXXS9EWF3 accompanies the July 2023 security patch for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. With a primary focus on enhancing security, this update addresses over 90 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software iteration.
It's important to note that this update doesn't introduce new features or performance improvements but solely aims to fortify device security. Currently, the update is accessible to users in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. However, Samsung plans to expand its availability to other regions shortly.
The same update will hit the Pakistani market soon, gracing the Samsung flagship new models, the S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra owners with the much-needed security patch. As mentioned, the update features a comprehensive list of fixes for 90 security flaws across various Galaxy phones and tablets.
Of the 92, 52 patches are Google-bound, while Samsung has developed 38 vulnerability fixes in-house. Among the addressed issues, three critical flaws have been resolved, along with 56 high-priority concerns. The remaining vulnerabilities are considered moderate risks.
The update is available for users residing in Latin American countries. Pakistani users will have to wait before downloading the new update. Upon availability, you can simply navigate to Settings, select Software Update, and tap Download and Install.
About the changelog: the improved security covers multiple departments, including manual package installation, audio system access control, UWB chipset identification, broadcast SMS configuration, Galaxy Themes Service, and more.
