The Galaxy S21 Ultra debuted with Samsung's finest, brightest display. At 1500 nits, the S21 Ultra can get eye-searingly bright. It would be hard to top this but Samsung has done just that, according to a credible phone leaker. Here's everything we've learned.
IceUniverse, a popular industry analyst based in China, tweeted that the AMOLED panel being tested for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra delivers the highest brightness of any Samsung display yet. The source doesn’t specify the peak number of nits this screen can hit, but it’s safe to assume it goes beyond 1500 nits.
With these specifications, the display should be easy on the eyes, even under direct sunlight. Although Samsung supplies the displays to third-party manufacturers, IceUniverse notes that the S22 screen will be a Samsung exclusive, at least for now.
The S22 and S22+ editions have a flat aesthetic — think the new iPhone 13 series. The Galaxy S22 Ultra curves along the edges once again carrying the highest Samsung mobile price tag. The stylus was compatible with the S21 Ultra but lacked a dedicated slot. Samsung is introducing this sort of native S-pen support next year.
Rumor has it that the display is a 6.8” panel with a hole punched through its center for the 40MP front camera. The bezel around it is symmetrical and slim. A high refresh rate and 2K resolution are also no-brainer features. Gorilla Glass Victus will protect the S22 Ultra.
