Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with Record-shattering Brightness, but less-than-ideal Bezels

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is now making headlines with its screen-related features, and the prominent leak star, Ice Universe, has spilled the beans on what to expect from the device's display. Here’s a brief overview of the latest break.

Starting with the good news, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will break brightness records, boasting a maximum peak brightness of over 2,200 nits. This remarkable feature is a significant leap from its predecessor, the S23 Ultra, which offers an impressive peak brightness of 1,750 nits.

If this information holds, the S24 Ultra will redefine the standards for display brightness in the smartphone industry. However, alongside this exciting development comes some less-than-favorable news.

The leak suggests that the Samsung 5G new model will showcase noticeably substantial bezels. Ice Universe pointed out that the bezel size might be equivalent to the Galaxy A54's bezels, which aren't typically considered favorable for high-end flagship devices.

Adding to the S24 Ultra’s potential design concerns, the bezels are only symmetrical in pairs, with the left and right sides measuring 3.42mm and the top and bottom measuring 3mm. With other companies providing displays with sub-2mm bezels, S24 Ultra’s screen is less than ideal.

The Ultra flagship device from the company contrasts the full-bezel symmetry adopted by other manufacturers like Apple, which has showcased a balanced bezel design using the same Samsung-made panels. Even newcomers like Nothing have demonstrated that bezel-symmetry is attainable even at lower prices.

The reported screen-to-body ratio of the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely be 88%, which is underwhelming, especially considering the standards set by previous Samsung flagship devices.
