Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in January introduced not three, but four devices this year, and one of them was the Samsung S25 Edge. It wasn’t a complete reveal or a consumer launch. The handset was briefly taken to the stage for a demo to show how thin the S25 Edge is compared to the others in the family.
The company wanted to show off this new prototype to gauge consumer interest before deploying it officially. Now, the launch date for this device remains unconfirmed, but we did find a leak from Korea yesterday that reveals what Samsung wants to do with it next.
The SEDaily from Korea reported that the Galaxy S25 Edge will launch on 16 April. When the device hits the stage, it might initiate a pre-order window, and the phone will eventually reach consumer stores in May 2025. This report even added color options to the story.
Galaxy S25 Edge has options in Black, Blue, and Silver. The one in silver was already brought to the stage at its partial unveiling at the Unpacked Event in January. The publication didn’t give an exact figure in this report, but there is speculation about it being more expensive than the vanilla Galaxy S25, making it one of the premium choices among the latest Samsung mobiles.
This thin flagship handset from Samsung will be rare. We hear Samsung only wants to produce 40,000 units in the first phase, which means that the company doesn’t expect customers to have much interest in this product. Admittedly, it is a niche enthusiast device, so there’s little value for people who prefer a more general use of their phones.
Also, this is the first product from a thin-handset category, so there’s also hesitation associated with the device for not being a well-rounded smartphone like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Still, we see a lot of potential in the Galaxy S26 Edge, especially with what it can do for future Galaxy S series.
Galaxy S25 Edge might have an OLED 120Hz screen slapped on a 6.4mm ultra-thin chassis. It will even tap into a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and keep a 4000mAh cell to power it up. The cameras you see on the back might be 200 MP (main) + 12 MP (ultrawide). These specs have been reported in leaks several times, though we still advise waiting for the official word to be 100% certain and stay tuned for more updates.
