Galaxy S25 series brought along a slimmer Galaxy Edge variant but for showcase purposes only. We haven’t heard it since the Galaxy S7, but South Korean tech giant has also decided to revive the moniker “Edge” with this new device, which is a very fitting description for its design. This is what makes the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge special.
We believe only the prototypes made it to the stage, which means Samsung is still working on the real deal. The consumer version might debut in April if the rumors are true. So, understandably, it’s specs remain a mystery for now. We still have plenty to discuss about its design, though.
Galaxy S25 is thin, probably the thinnest modern flagship yet, with a 6.4mm chassis. This number is downright insane. And you can tell by the images how the Edge managed to have such a thin build. A hint: it might have something to do with the cameras.
Those cameras on the latest Samsung edge mobile protrude out in dual layers, very dissimilar to the rest of its fellows in the S25 lineup. You can tell that the first layer is a noticeably thick camera island, and the dual lenses rest on top of it. This two-step camera assortment is one of the reasons why the S25 edge is so thin.
It isn’t officially verified at the time of writing, but experts say the S25 Edge’s battery might be the same as the S25’s at 4000 mAh. Big if true, but we have to take this claim with a pinch of salt unless Samsung decides to switch Li-ion with Si/C battery tech. That should keep the phone thin and lightweight.
Of course, this is among the Samsung flagships of 2025, so a Snapdragon 8 Elite might be on its way to Galaxy S25 Edge. This new phone wants to compete with the iPhone 17 Slim, so it’s already causing a blowout as Samsung took the plunge into the thin category before Apple.
We’d also like to add that the Edge variant of the Samsung S25 series as a final product might not look the same as the prototype dummies here. Slight changes are a real possibility, but the 6.4mm goal they’ve set for themselves at Unpacked will remain the same for the consumer Galaxy S25 Edge in April.
