With so many other brands adopting 12 GB RAM as a standard for mid-range and flagship phones, Samsung will also push the envelope this time with the Galaxy S25. The older S24 with its base 8/128GB configuration was a huge letdown for fans who paid a flagship price for it, but things are changing next year.
A leak from a credible source on X reported that the basic Galaxy S25 would bear 12 GB RAM rather than 8 GB for the cheapest option. Another big upgrade will be its base storage, bumped from 128 GB to 256 GB, finally pulling it to the level of other flagship competitors.
It’s a big jump for the system’s background apps and multitasking, especially now that Android OS is getting bulky with many new features added version after version. Adding 12 GB RAM is also a good call for the Galaxy AI onboard the Samsung One UI.
Built-in AI with newer Snapdragon chips works far better when the phones have more RAM. This way, the system doesn’t have to rely fully on cloud-based AI to process your requests. Future Android updates to Samsung's upcoming flagship will also benefit if Samsung expands the RAM to 12 GB.
We’ve also heard rumors about Galaxy S25 Ultra bumping its RAM. The current Ultra phone comes with only 12 GB RAM. It’s a decent number but with the ‘Ultra’ label in the phone’s branding, 12 GB memory doesn’t cut it anymore. So, Samsung may give the S25 Ultra a nice bump with up to 16 GB RAM.
