Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Borrows a Camera Feature from a 5-Year-Old Poco Phone

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is still in the pre-order phase, but before its official deployment, experts and smartphone reviewers have teased some fascinating new features we can look forward to. You might have heard already that the hardware wasn’t the primary focus of this year’s series, but Samsung relied on software and user experience to build the hype around the S25 Trio.

S25 Ultra now has a better-optimized camera with some new features for finer video recording. Continuous zoom is a new option that pops up on S25 Ultra when you record a video. While it is true that the option has appeared for the first on a Galaxy device, it isn’t exactly innovative or new at this point.

Continuous zoom on the new One UI 7 will give you a slider while you record a video, and it smoothly zooms in or out (depending on the speed set on the slider) for some cinematic shots. Seeing this continuous zoom option reminds us of a four-year-old Poco X3 device that did the same thing.

If you share the same skeptical view about this new feature, it’s understandable. Samsung took far too long to bring such a useful feature on its flagship Galaxy S device, even though the Samsung price list positions these phones as cutting-edge technology. while Xiaomi has been doing it for the mid-rangers for over half a decade.

Its continuous zoom is only one of the improvements. ProVisual AI Engine has added another layer of software optimization for the S25 Ultra’s camera quality. It is better at reducing noise in low-light shots, and it even understands skin tones better.

It is also the first Galaxy phone with a 50 MP Ultrawide (up from last-gen 12MP). It’s a 120-degree FOV lens that even records super steady videos. The rest are borrowed from the old device. 200 MP is still the overkill primary lens, with yesteryear’s new 50 MP 3X periscope telephoto.

The second telephoto is a 10 MP 3x portrait shooter. The new ProVisual AI engine enhances the shots from all cameras and makes the viewport less janky. Galaxy S25 Ultra is up for pre-order in overseas markets at $1,299 base price, which is the same cost as last year. Upgrading to the S25 Ultra is a choice since One UI 7.0 is suspected to bring some of the same features to the Galaxy S24 Ultra as well. We’ll keep you posted on that front, so stick around.
