Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Hits Geekbench with 4.2GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 onboard a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will put the iPhone 16 Pro Max performance to shame once it comes out, and there’s proof available now for all of us to see. It seems Geekbench has recorded one of the early tests of the S25 Ultra and the results will drop your jaws.

We only talk about the Samsung exclusive SD 8 Gen 4 here, so don’t get it confused with the vanilla version. They always tweak the performance of the original, name it “For Galaxy,” and this time the clock speeds are much higher than SD 8 Gen3’s 3.39 GHz.

This CPU is 8-core like all others before it, but there are now two alpha cores on this chip doing 4.2 GHz clock frequency, and the results it aggregates are north of 3069 in the single-core benchmark. If you have to put it into context, the Apple A18 Pro is only a 6-core engine and tops at 2 x 4.05 GHz, and we haven’t even talked efficiency cores yet.

Geekbench has the other six SD 8 Gen 4 cores listed at 2.9GHz, and the Apple A18 Pro doesn’t even compare with its measly four efficiency cores at 2.42GHz, but real-life performance will be a different story. This overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 helps Samsung's new Ultra model yield over 9080 points on all eight cores.

Geekbench tested this version of the Samsung S25 Ultra with only 12 GB RAM, but we can’t deny the possibility of a 16 GB version yet, and some synthetic benchmarks will take advantage of that for even better results. It will be Android 14, no doubt. Plus, the model code SM-938U might be referring to the US version of the S25 Ultra.
