Galaxy A55 is the first and only Samsung device that gives its users seamless update support right now, even though this is a relatively old feature. Google made it official way back in 2016, but Samsung just adopted it in March 2024, and now they plan to make it standard across all Galaxy S25 devices.
A major leak from the Android Headlines publication breaks the secret wide open in today’s news. Galaxy S25 Ultra is reportedly next in the queue with a seamless update feature, and if that’s the case, it’s only logical to assume that Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus will follow.
If you don’t know what seamless updates are, let us break it down. Usually, when an update hits your Galaxy device, it takes downloading, which requires a few minutes, and installation immediately after. That renders the device useless until the update is completed and the phone rebooted.
Seamless update puts the download data in a separate partition other than the primary OS partition A, so folks can keep using the Samsung's new Ultra handset throughout the installation process. The new content just shows up when you restart your phone. With so many recurring Samsung patches and updates, this feature will be a big help, without a doubt.
Android Headlines also found chipset details in the leaked files. There’s no question now that SM-S938 or the Galaxy S25 Ultra bags a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Previous rumors were also helpful finding out that the S25 Ultra is bumping up its max RAM option to 16GB. We’ll know more details upon the Galaxy S25 series launch due on January 22nd.
