With all the Galaxy AI features the S24 Ultra has at this point, 12 GB RAM seems too limiting to do any AI work natively and that’s why it has to rely on a slow and internet-only cloud AI. This could change with their next Galaxy S25 Ultra because they are suspected to uptick its max RAM to 16GB.
Now, let’s get one thing out of the way; Samsung already did a 16 GB RAM option three years back in 2021 for S21 Ultra, but they scrapped this idea in all the future Ultras. This will be a comeback of the 16 GB RAM variant, but this makes much more sense now that AI is a big part of our daily drivers.
Ice Universe’s tweet about it has reinforced all the claims we previously heard about the S25 Ultra and its 16 GB RAM, and he seems to be 100% confident in his claim. He has a knack for publishing authentic leaks like this and credibly predicting Samsung’s moves so you can also be sure of his latest break.
Only upsizing the RAM in Samsung's upcoming flagship won’t be enough for native AI though and there will be a need for better NPU, so that’s where the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will come into the picture. This is the cream of the crop SoC of 4.2GHz that scored 9000+ multicore points on Geekbench.
There’s a chance that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is no longer the boxy sharp-edge palm-jabbing slab, but a device with rounded more comfortable corners (from leaked renders). Then, there are leaks that it will be a 6.8” 2X dynamic AMOLED 120Hz phone for a likely cost of $1,299, just like the last time.
