Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Could Break the Cycle with a True Hardware Upgrade

Several reports claim that the next big change with the Galaxy S26 series will be its battery capacity. Samsung might be realizing that the competition is gaining in on their flagship lineup since many of the Chinese handsets now offer above 6000mAh, and some even break that mark with 6500mAh in different parts of the world.

We hear the Galaxy S26 series may use Si/C Li-ion batteries instead of the regular Lithium-ion cells, and this is a good sign. The Chinese phone makers have been using this technology for a while, and the results have been impressive to see.

Si/C batteries have the upside of storing more charge while keeping the same size and heft as a regular Li-ion pack. That’s why we see some phones these days getting thinner, disproportionate to their high-volume batteries. Samsung wants to use the same technology now. It might have been installed already on the Galaxy S25 Edge.

From what we have gathered from reports, the Samsung new flagship models could come with a 6000mAh battery or even 7000mAh, probably reserved for Galaxy Ultra in the new lineup. As always, we advise caution not to take these claims at face value alone and wait for more sources to corroborate these leaks.

Other reports say that Samsung will indeed bump up the battery sizes for its lineup in 2026, but it might use its very own battery type to achieve so. Samsung has been R&D-ing a new battery standard even better than Si/C since that comes with a poorer lifespan.

Si/C batteries have higher capacities but don’t last very long and degrade quickly. Samsung has been giving its phones over 7 years of OS support, so their phone could last longer. Samsung wants to use a battery type that might at least keep up with their software’s longevity.

The Korean manufacturer's current Samsung Galaxy S25 Lineup was heavily critiqued for not having enough hardware upgrades to call the devices a generational improvement. So, a bump in the battery capacity seems to be the right direction for next year’s Galaxy S26 series. We pin our ears to the walls and wait for more news on this subject. Stick around to find out more.
