Samsung is branching out, and they may be working on a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Just like the second, albeit, an expensive version of Z Fold 6 in the form of Z Fold Special Edition, the Flip 6 is also expanding and its second version is called Galaxy Z Flip FE.
An insider who goes by ‘Jukanlosreve’ on Twitter/X revealed some of its details moments ago. The first clue leaked about the Z Flip FE is an Exynos 2400e chip — the same chip as the Galaxy S24 FE. That means Z Flip FE maintains the philosophy followed by every other Fan Edition phone to cut its cost.
This chip has a peak Cortex X4 core at 3.1 GHz and runs everything with a flagship-grade performance. The Xclipse 940 GPU is also great at pulling the load of several high-end games, all matching the FPS of the original Exynos 2400 from Galaxy S24.
This SoC is cheaper and will help lower the cost of Flip FE by a large sum, though we may see Samsung cut even more corners for its reduced price. Still, the rumor mill has mentioned some Pros in favor of this Samsung new folding model, namely the front and back display.
This phone could use the same screen type as the future Flip 7, and seeing how each generation brought some sort of innovation in display tech, it can be argued that FE will have better screens than the original Flip 6. One thing is clear from this report: Z Flip FE will be Samsung’s first budget clamshell.
