Tecno's budget-sensitive offerings rarely go beyond the entry-level mark. That changed with the recently-introduced Tecno Camon 16 Premier that falls into the mid-range bracket, featuring a high-res camera setup and sub-flagship-grade internals. The phone was announced a little awhile ago and is now coming to Pakistan on October 9.
Let's jump on to the back first, The camera features are the Tecno Camon 16 Premier’s highlight so let’s start there. You’re looking at a 64MP quad-camera, backed up by a dedicated 119° 8MP wide-angle lens, a depth control sensor, and a 2MP sensor designed for low-light video. A total of five flashes round off this array. On the front, we have a dual selfie-camera system with a 48MP main and a 105° 8MP lens for wide-angle selfies.
On paper, the Camon 16 Premier cameras are pretty robust, and Tecno promises powerful AI image processing thanks to their TAIVOS technology. It has a night mode for portraits, ‘Hybrid Image Stabilization,’ and scene recognition.
The Camon 16 Premier features the cameras and LED flashes arranged in a boxy camera plate, on a subtly-textured and chamfered back panel — painted in Glacial Silver. The display is a gigantic 6.9” with a dual hole-punch cutout in its corner. It produces an FHD+ resolution at a tall 20.5:9 aspect ratio and a fluid 90Hz refresh rate, the first phone in Tecno price list to catch up with this industry trend.
MediaTek’s last-gen Helio G90T is at the heart of the Tecno Camon 16 Premier, combined with 8GB of memory and 128GB of native storage. The 4500 mAh battery powering this hardware charges over 33W. Tecno claims that it can top up your device to 70% in only 30 minutes.
For better heat management from the fast charging, there’s also a cooling system onboard. Tecno’s Android10-based HiOS 7.0 delivers the software experience. We expect the Camon 16 Premier to start anywhere from Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 47,000.
