Tecno Camon 16 Series is Debuting on September 3 and It Could be Game Changing

The sequel to Company’s ultra-budget Tecno Camon 15 series, aptly titled, Camon 16 is scheduled for launch soon. Teaser posters are already out, featuring the phone and its specs. And this season, the brand has some big upgrades in the store for us.

Tecno has built itself around value smartphones with incredible performance-to-price ratios. And if Tecno Camon 16, i.e, the next generation is just as aggressively priced, it might be the company’s finest model yet.

The upcoming Camon 16 follows the trend exaggerated screen sizes (at 6.9”) and tall aspect ratios typical to budget brands, but the bezels have been shaved right to the edges. The chin is also pushed further back and two cameras encased inside a stretched out hole punch. To point out the obvious, it’s a feature almost foreign to entry-level phones.

The edges are chamfered, glossy and the corners rounded. The rear panel seems to be glass (although it could be painted plastic). An elegant soft blue gradient covers the back featuring a refreshing camera layout — three lenses of Tecno 16 are arranged side by side and the fourth one sits on top of this horizontal lineup.

The standard rear camera is 64MP while the front selfie camera has a 48MP sensor behind it. The other four-camera specifications are anyone’s guess right now but the Camon 16 sure is a valuable addition to the Tecno price list.

To make a device ultra-budget, some corners need to be cut and Tecno picked the chipset. MediaTek’s Helio G90T, introduced last year, powers the Camon 16 series. It’s a gaming-centric 12nm processor split into 8 cores. Nothing exceptional. The battery capacity is kept under wraps right now but given the ongoing trend for bigger and bigger cells, it won’t be a stretch to expect a 6,000 mAh battery. At any rate, it’s recharged with 33W Super Flash Charge.

The global release of Tecno Camon 16 Series is slated for September 3 at Tecno’s first-ever augmented reality (or AR) launch. And if it’s anything like the OnePlus Nord event, Tecno might send fans early previews of the devices.
