The new Camon 40 series by Tecno was officially launched in Pakistan earlier this month. We welcomed the Camon 40 Pro first on April 5th last week, and now the vanilla Tecno Camon 40 is also deployed in the local market. In contrast to the Pro, the base Camon 40 cuts back on the durability and selfie cam resolution, though its performance is reported to be the same.
The designs seem identical to the Pro, with the same 7.3mm thickness, but the handset we review here has a flat AMOLED panel on the front. The Camon 40 brings a sizable 6.78” display. It clocks at 120Hz with a sharp 1080p FHD+ resolution and brings an Always-on-Display.
This Camon 40 model has a Panda King Glass for screen protection and an IP66 rating for minimal water protection with a fingerprint reader under the screen. Camon 40 uses a 32MP camera on the front for selfies, but it doesn’t have eye focus here, unlike the Pro model.
At least the rear sensor has the very same 50MP Sony LYT-700C main shooter, which can do an AI Best-Moment photo or a FlashSnap with one click through a red button mounted on the side. The secondary lens on the back of the Tecno new Camon mobile can shoot 8 MP ultrawide photos.
This handset is made competitive with Tecno’s very own AI suite with a bunch of integrated features on the HiOS Android 15 system. It has the DeepSeek integration for tools like LiveLink calls, AI translate, AI writing, and the Ella ScreenSense assistant.
A Helio G100 chip handles the UI with only 8 GB RAM for multitasking. The only variant in Pakistan will have 256 GB storage. Both the Pro and non-Pro options have the same 5200mAh battery that’s guaranteed to last at least 5 years with its 1800 cycles. Even though it is the base model, the Tecno Camon 40 still gets the same 45W fast charging.
There are dual speakers here, but no 24-bit/192kHz Hi-res DAC support for the audio accessories. That feature remains exclusive to the Pro model. In the Pakistani market, the Tecno Camon 40 is available in 8/256GB memory with a price tag of Rs 59,999/-.
