TECNO Camon 40 Pro Arriving in Pakistan on April 5 — A Step Forward or Just a Refresh?

The latest Tecno Camon 40 Pro will reach Pakistan soon. The official launch date has been confirmed by the company, slated for April 5th next month. Currently, the phone is available for pre-order in a single 8/256 GB memory option, but before you make the plunge, you should know what to expect from this new mid-ranger.

It may sound as if Tecno has made a generational leap with the Camon 40 Pro, but the phone’s strange hardware assortment makes us doubt its merit in the competitive mid-range segment. Camon 40 Pro specs are a mix of upgrades and downgrades over its forerunner, the Camon 30 Pro.

The Camon 40 Pro brings a slightly upgraded battery over the 30 Pro (5200mAh vs. 5000mAh), but it demotes the charging speed from last year’s 70W input to 45W support on the Camon 40 Pro. On paper, the difference is night and day, but the company is still confident enough to claim that the battery will reach 0-100% in 43 minutes.

Tecno might be using the new Si/C anode for the battery, which bumps up the charging speeds at lower wattages, but there’s no official confirmation. Camon 30 Pro last year brought a 50 MP ultrawide camera, which has since been demoted to a measly 8 MP ultrawide lens on the Camon 40 Pro. Still, if you look at the Tecno price catalog, the brand continues to offer competitive features for the price segment.

At least this newcomer didn’t make any cuts in the rest of the camera department. It still has the 50 MP main and 50 MP selfie sensors. The Camon 40 Pro’s 6.78” AMOLED display was also replaced with a slower panel, demoted from last year’s 144Hz to a typical 120Hz refresh rate. Visually, it doesn’t make much difference, but this change will certainly sting some buyers.

Tecno has bumped up the phone’s durability quite a bit. There was no screen or water protection on the previous Camon 30 Pro. On the successor, the AMOLED panel has a Gorilla Glass 7 for shatter resistance and a full IP69 rating for underwater safety and dust resistance.

The Camon 40 Pro is also lighter and slimmer than before. This device has remarkably achieved a 7.3mm thickness (Vs. 7.6mm on the Tecno Camon 30 Pro) even though the battery has been upgraded. It’s also more lightweight (188.6g vs. 178g), which should make the device comfortable for a longer duration. The Camon 40 Pro's retail price in Pakistan is still unknown. We might need to wait for the phone’s official launch on April 5th for confirmation. Stay tuned for more details.
