Tecno and Infinix aren’t known for their “Update Support” in the smartphone space, but they are slowly working toward fixing some of the gripes we’ve had with their phones for years. Tecno recently unveiled the Camon 40 series at this year’s MWC event in Barcelona, and a few weeks later, they’ve now announced a 5-year software support commitment for the new phones.
Since the lineup is also making a foray in Pakistan on April 5th, we are delighted to share this news with our audience. Per the official announcement and the banner shown by the company, all Camon 40 devices, released or unreleased, will support OS builds till Android 18 and an additional two years of security updates on top of that.
The announcement came out of the blue, and experts agree this is a brave commitment on the company’s part. Three-year OS support makes sense on the upcoming Camon 40 Premier, since that’s the most expensive device in the lineup, bordering on the flagship category.
The Premier variant on one side, such extended software support is a nice treat for the rest of the members: Camon 40 Pro, Camon 40 Pro 5G, and Camon 40, which cost way less considering the Tecno phones price. Only time will tell if the software developers at Tecno will hold their end.
We can’t get into the details because of the limited intel on the subject. There’s also no information on how many security updates will be deployed per year for the newcomers. We assume those details will be shared in the future as well.
Camon 40 and 40 Pro are coming to Pakistan on April 5th. Pre-orders are open now, and the booking only costs Rs. 5000. These phones have Android 15 HiOS 15 built-in straight from the factory, and both have excellent batteries at 5200mAh, which you can refill with a 45W adapter.
They have 50 MP cameras each on the rear side, using Sony LYT 700C sensors. Even though the screens are AMOLED 1080p 120Hz, one of the phones has a flat profile, and the other has a 3D edge panel. Tecno refuses to reveal how much the Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro cost in Pakistan, but the good news is that we only have to wait till April 5th next week for details. So stay tuned.
