Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 & V Flip 2 Officially Unveiled; Pre-orders Begin Overseas

Tecno only joined the Battle of Folds and Flips last year. But now they are bringing the real heat into the arena with some new fighters. They’ve unveiled Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 and Phantom V Flip 2 in Ghana, West Africa. Tecno Ghana has put them under pre-orders until 24th August.

Of course, it won’t take them long to deploy those in more areas, so let’s get to know these devices a little better. There’s no longer an older circular disc on the rear side. V Fold 2 replaced that with a square design. We have three camera units there, and each has a resolution of 50 MP.

One of those may even be a periscope telephoto. That’s why the landing zone has a little extra protrusion. Suffice it to say that this design is more in sync with the other folds in the market. Check plus for the curved edges, making this comfortable to hold. Plus, there’s a fingerprint reader on the side for privacy.

The pre-shipping specs aren’t very revealing, but there are some assumptions. Because it targets a power user, they may have placed a Dimensity 9000 Plus at the helm of Tecno's latest foldable phone. Contrary to that, Tecno Phantom V Flip 2 could be shy of that horsepower, only getting a Dimensity 8050.

The change with the Flip 2 is a better and larger cover screen. It’s almost as if they copied the style of Motorola’s Razr 50’s 3.6” cover with cameras shooting out of the screen. Fold 2’s more meaningful change seems to be S-pen support.

BIS approved this duo for unveiling in one of the Asian markets. No one has a clue when, but it’s close. In Ghana, though, they’re making a huge deal for Phantom Fold 2 and Flip 2 pre-order gifts. From the looks of it, people who pre-order can land freebies worth ~$193 out of the gift box, packing a Bluetooth speaker and flask, a travel bag, and a Watch 3.
