Tecno Pop 7 Sighted Multiple Times on Web; Confirms Android 12 Go, and HD+ Display

Tecno doesn't go overboard with marketing when it comes to sub-entry-tier smartphones. Pop 7 Pro is such a phone. It got unveiled quietly at the beginning of February. Although initially presented as an individual device, we have since uncovered that it is, in fact, an extension of a series that also includes a standard vanilla edition.

To point out the obvious: the standard variant's referred to as "Tecno Pop 7." It is yet to become official, but ahead of its release, the phone has surfaced on Google Play Console, Geekbench Scoreboard, and the FCC database. We've pieced together all the relevant details in this brief overview.

According to GPC, Tecno Pop 7 boasts HD+ resolution at 720 x 1,600px. Its panel has a standard 20:9 aspect ratio, identical to its Pro counterpart. Presumably, it's the same 6.56-inch IPS display as Pop 7 Pro, and FCC corroborates by showcasing roughly equivalent measurements (164 x 74 x 8mm) for both handsets.

At its core, the oncoming Tecno Pop houses Unisoc SC9863A, the low-end SoC. While it does have relatively sub-par processing and 2GB RAM, the phone compensates for these limitations by running a streamlined combination of Android 12 Go and HiOS 12. The Tecno smartphone price is quite affordable, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.

Before GPC, the FCC file indicated that the newcomer would sport 64GB native storage, and its charging speed would be 10W. Due to lacking clock speeds, Pop 7 only scores 130 points (single-core) and 481 points (multi-core) on Geekbench — the results also factor in the phone's PowerVR GE8322 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Although there is no clear indication of the official launch date, all signs suggest that Tecno Pop 7 is imminent.
