Tecno recently introduced a new Spark edition phone in Africa. The Spark 8 went on the market in Nigeria last week, and it’s now headed to Asia. We have the launch timeline and details of the new Tecno Spark 7 successor to report.
Multiple news reports, citing their sources, predicts that the Spark 8 is slated for next week. Following this launch in India, it should land in Pakistan next, based on a typical Tecno release cycle. Here is what the Tecno Spark 8 has to offer.
The Spark 8 is an entry-level smartphone featuring low-end specs that feel out of place in 2021. It’s powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 (from three generations ago) and a 5000 mAh battery. No quick-charging support is seen here, but you can get all-day battery life out of a single charge, if not more.
The internal specs aren’t as competitive as other entry-level phones in the Tecno price list. Android11 Go and HiOS 7.6, a version of the OS designed for low-performance hardware, runs on the Tecno Spark 8. You get 2GB of memory and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card.
Its shell is plastic and finished in two glossy paint jobs, slate gray and turquoise. Two lenses, an LED flash, and a capacitive fingerprint scanner are housed inside a raised platform. Plus, it’s stamped with ‘STOP AT NOTHING’ branding off-center.
We’re looking at a 16MP camera on the back and an 8MP lens on the front. The screen is a 6.5” IPS LCD that delivers a 720P resolution. Tecno Spark 8 is priced at $130 (~ Rs. 21,800.)
