Funtouch and Origin OS function as equals in most cases, though one is for Chinese devices and the other is for Vivo’s global handsets. Their OriginOS 5 has a November 2024 update on the roll in China and several new functions brought to the software. We expect Funtouch OS to do the same soon.

This update is ready and available out-of-the-box on some of their newer phones like the Vivo S20 series or iQoo Neo 10 but not on Vivo’s X200 series and the X3 Fold. Of course, this update is scattered and won’t reach all the devices in one go.

It’s an update with better security and some obvious feature additions. Some bug fixes are also part of this package. Their Atomic notification Island on Origin OS 5 has new gestures and you can now swipe left or right to minimize and reopen it. Its card layout should be more responsive now.

And who doesn’t love minimalism, right? Fans will love the new personalizations they have added to Origin OS 5. Their updated home screen will hide the app labels, so it should feel cleaner and more pleasing now. Also, the Calculator got an update so it stores past calculations now.

They also added gestures to the control center. You can now swipe left to access notifications and find the controls back if you swipe right again. One-handed use will be far easier now.

This November update also gives you better sensor access control so apps don’t have unwanted access to hardware like haptic motors, cameras, or your mic. On Origin OS 5, the phone has a reset password option using your old password within the next 96 hours, if you forgot your new password.
