Vivo is now at work, R&D-ing the next-generation S-series lineup to replace the S15 stock. According to a report that appeared yesterday, new cousins of the Vivo V23e will get monikered in the following hierarchy: the standard S16, S16e, and S16 Pro. In addition, the report brings some crucial details about the phones.
The infamous Chinese leaker, Assen, pointed out recently that the Vivo S16 line might get postponed for the X90-series’ early deployment. With Vivo flagships being the next big thing this year, the S16s will likely grace the red carpet next year. According to the tipster, the expected phones will have a variety of processors and colors.
Starting with Vivo S16, the former mentions Dimensity 1080 chip (unannounced) under the baseline V16’s deck. That means the phone is 5G-enabled, processing heavy, and likely sports a high-end GPU. Allegedly, the model has black, blue, and purple paint jobs.
Moving on to S15e’s successor, the S16e, users might find an old-yet-competitive Qualcomm flagship chipset, Snapdragon 870, at its core. The S16 Pro, however, is more likely to get MediaTek’s upcoming bleeding-edge Dimensity 8200v SoC at a higher Vivo mobile price. Panda is Bald says; the Pro will probably ship in bold new shades of black, green, and orange gold.
These are the early reports, so there’s little to none along the lines of storage specs and display stats. But in theory, these specs should align with Mid 2022’s Vivo S15 line.
To jog the memory, we should point out that S15 boasted 120Hz refresh on a 6.62-inch punch-hole display. The Pro model S15 carried a smaller 6.56-inch display, curved. Screens kept the resolution at 1080p. The duo used 4500mAh juicers rated for 66W and 80W fast charging, respectively.
