The upcoming addition to Vivo’s S-series -- the Vivo S6, is scheduled for release either by the end of March or early April, and the Chinese phone manufacturer has posted the first teaser for the device on Weibo.

So far, Vivo’s domestic market has seen three models touting the ‘S’ moniker, Vivo S1, Vivo S1 Pro, and Vivo S5 (which the recently-teased model is succeeding), but Vivo S6 might just be a welcome gamechanger. As per the promo, the phone will debut with support for 5G connectivity at affordable Vivo prices.

Vivo is attempting to introduce another 5G smartphone that falls into the affordable price bracket. The first budget 5G phone by Vivo Z6 5G was introduced last month. The upper-mid-ranger runs on a Snapdragon 765G chipset with an X52 5G modem baked into it.

To recall, the Vivo S6 5G featured a punch-hole FHD+ screen, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a quad-camera setup. The mobile platform was connected to 8 GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of native storage.

Coming back to the short teaser video, it reveals that the Vivo S6 5G will rock support for dual-mode 5G, which allows the device to connect to both SA and NSA bands. Additional details are thin on the ground, but we might be looking at the same SD 765G platform that we saw in Vivo Z6 5G, or Vivo might opt for a much cheaper MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chip, that also supports 5G. Gizmochina speculates yet another possibility. As per the publication, the phone might be powered by a Samsung-manufactured Exynos 980 chip.

The manufacture hasn’t shared a launch date or the Vivo price details, but if you go by its release schedule, the Chinese firm should tease more specifications ahead of the launch. We’ll keep you posted as more details become available.
