The sequel to this year’s Vivo S6 is already in the works, scheduled for launch on August 3, as per an official announcement on the Chinese social media site, Weibo. Titled Vivo S7 5G, the upcoming budget 5G Vivo succeeds one of Vivo’s bestsellers. The teaser published with the announcement doesn’t detail the phone’s design, but a phone leaker has leaked many teaser posters — alongside some core specifications.
As seen in the promo video, the Vivo S7 5G has a lightweight, wafer-thin profile. Around the front, you get a wedge-shaped rectangular notch carved into the display with featherweight bezels surrounding it.
The screen is a SuperAMOLED panel that stretches 6.43” across, embedding an in-display fingerprint reader, and delivering a full HD+ resolution.
The camera bump seems to borrow its design language from the still-recent X50 line. Flip the phone over to find a square camera island and a polished rear-shell painted in a solid multi-hued gradient. The phone is expected to carry a flagship Vivo mobile price tag.
Nestled inside the wedge notch is a dual selfie camera, featuring a 44MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens — much like its selfie-focused predecessor. The rear-camera array uses three lenses: a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 13MP sensor for portrait shots.
The processing is handled by a Snapdragon 765G platform and its 5G antenna, but the memory and storage details have yet to reveal themselves. Though Vivo hasn’t shared the release schedule for markets outside of China, the Vivo S7 5G goes on pre-sale in China from August 3.
