The never-ending slew of affordable 5G phones from Chinese manufacturers continues as Vivo introduces the brand new S7 5G at a sub-flagship Vivo price point— seemingly designed with a focus on photography and videography.
You might find the Vivo S7 design familiar to Vivo's recent X50 release — especially the so-called 'Big Eye' camera. The similarities continue with the camera housing, nestled squarely in the corner of the sleek rear-facing panel.
Although the S7 5g doesn't feature the novel gimbal-like Vivo stabilization, its high-def 64MP main camera does have EIS (electronic image stabilization). The primary camera rests above two additional lenses — an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth-assist camera.
The three-camera array on Vivo S7 5G is further augmented with the 'Super Night Mode' and split-screen recording that lets you shoot with both the front and rear camera. Speaking of which, the front camera is equally interesting, if not more.
Vivo houses the two front-facing S7 lenses inside a tiny notch that protrudes out the top bezel. It's a 44MP main + 8MP ultrawide combination that supports autofocus, 4K recording, and an FoV of 105°. S7 5G's highlight seems to be its selfie-focused build that promises detailed shots and wide-angle selfies.
The notched display of S7 5G by Vivo stretches 6.44" corner to corner. It's an AMOLED panel that delivers an FHD+ resolution and has an in-display fingerprint reader embedded inside. Combine that with a featherweight 170g and 7.39mm thick build, and it translates into a rather ergonomic design language — available in the exciting Monet shade which incorporates a few soft gradient tones, and standard White and Black editions.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G processor, in addition to a 4,000 mAh battery backed by 33W flash charging, powers the S7. The modem inside the chipset offers 5G connectivity across SA/NSA bands, not to mention support for NFC. Up to 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM are coupled with other top-notch internals, and while there's no storage expandability, Vivo does offer a slightly water-down 128GB base variant. It has already gone on pre-sale in China where it starts from CNY 2,800 (Rs. 67,000).
