Vivo V40 already debuted in Europe a month ago. But the Vivo V40 Pro is still in the pipeline, yet to break cover. We hear the official world debut for the V40 Pro is set. Teasers for the series have begun to drop, and their landing page has started displaying a launch date. Here are the deets.

Both phones will trot out to the world stage on August 7th. We have confirmation that the Vivo V40 series will launch in India first. And shortly after, they’ll begin deployment to other regions, as usual. They kept most of the specifics about the Vivo V40 Pro to themselves. But there were still some clues as to what it might feature.

ZEISS portrait camera is coming, and both phones have it. We hear the Pro has four 50 MP near-flagship cameras: all ZEISS, three lenses on the back, and one on the front. One of those is a 2X telephoto. There’s an IP68 rating for both the base and Pro. And they both keep their heft in check.

Slim designs may be their best feature, and they still manage to cram in a 5500 mAh battery capacity. And yes, both phones have the same PD 80W fast charging. That’s about it for the V40 Pro’s info. Apart from the Geekbench’s report saying Vivo's new 5G model has a Dimensity 9200 Plus. We didn’t come across any other specifics.

Let’s tear into the base V40’s known specifications because it’s already official in Europe. This one has an AMOLED at 120Hz 6.78-inch. And it peaks at around 4500 nits brightness. There’s a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 here and only three 50 MP shooters (telephoto’s missing).

12GB RAM x 512 GB storage is the most beefed-up variant of this phone. Android 14 comes as default and keeps things sorted. But the best part is its availability with an eSIM option. Then there’s your under-screen fingerprint ID and access to the latest Bluetooth 5.4.
