It’s not the first time we hear about the new V50 by Vivo, and it won’t be the last. EEC in Europe and NCC in Taiwan already approved this device in their respective regions some weeks ago, but yesterday, we found that Malaysia has also cleared V50 for a launch in their market. Here is what SIRIM had to say about the new Vivo device.
SIRIM in Malaysia tested the phone under the V2427 model number, the same as the last EEC and NCC certifications. This new listing doesn’t get into the nitty gritty of V50’s specs, but we at least have a new authority to confirm the phone’s nearing global launch.
The NCC listing revealed how the phone looks in three different color options. V50’s measurements and real-life photos were also exposed last week by the regulatory body and we found out that the phone measures 160mm tall and 74mm wide.
If you look at these images and get the feeling of deja vu, you probably imagine the Vivo S20 from China, a model you’d likely recognise from the Vivo rate list. Yes! These are identical-looking phones, but the rumor mill believes the specs might differ, especially the battery type and charging speed.
It’s quite fortunate that we found the V50’s battery and charging specs on that same listing. NCC said its battery has a Li-ion 5870 mAh capacity, which V50 might advertise as 6000 mAh. S20 is a different beast with its Si/C battery and a denser 6500 mAh capacity.
There was also a mention of its charging speed at a fast 90W input. If the power stats have differed, V50 might not be the rebranded S20 like once thought. Of course, this is a 2025 phone, so Android 15 and Funtouch OS 15 should be available at the first boot.
You can see in the images that Vivo is still keeping its collaboration with ZEISS cameras live. At least the photos and videos will be flagship-grade here. Its 12/256 GB and 12/512 GB memory options were also ratted out by the recent listing. NBTC and TDRA are some other certifications backing this device, which green-lit this Vivo V40 in the Middle East and Thailand. From all the evidence, the global launch is fast approaching.
