Vivo V50 will debut on February 17th. The company has officially revealed the launch date, adding to the existing specs and hardware details on the dedicated microsite in an overseas market. Almost everything has been teased except the price. Here’s what we know so far.
This phone has a premium build with a Rose Red, Starry Blue, and Titanium Grey finish, two of which have been spotted in leaked real-life shots as well. Through the microsite, we learned that Vivo V50 is a 6.78” micro quad-curve OLED device at a 1.5k resolution.
That OLED panel might be on par with some of the most deluxe screens in the midrange category. It will have a 120Hz refresh rate. V50’s chassis is tightly shut and tested with an IP68/69 rating, so it will survive in water and protect itself from dust ingress.
The Vivo new V model has two camera rear cameras just like last time: a 50 MP main OIS and a 50 MP ultrawide, both taking assistance from an Aura light LED flash. Even the front camera is borrowed from the old V40 at 50 MP with Autofocus support. The special sauce this year might be the AI, which should improve the visual fidelity of the images and give you some AI Editing features.
All the AI options will be part of the Android 15 x FunTouch OS 15 package, which you will find right out of the box on this Vivo V50. You could use Audio transcription just like Samsung and Pixel phones and even real-time call translations will be available here.
It wasn’t confirmed by the company, but Geekbench seems to have tested this handset with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip onboard. This is also the same SoC as before with a 2.63GHz clock and an Adreno 720 GPU. So, we know the performance isn’t changing. The phone will keep using 12 GB max RAM and 512 GB storage.
Power and charging are the categories where we see some actual upgrades this time. Vivo V50 will have a 6000mAh battery in a slim chassis of about 7.4mm. This phone is thinner and packs more battery than Vivo V40's 5500mAh. It will also bring a 90W charging. Vivo is still keeping its price close to the vest, but V50 expectedly costs between $400 and $455, per the leaks.
