Vivo X Fold and X Pad Officially Teased; Meet the First Foldable and Tablet From Vivo

The rumor mill has been predicting the launch of Vivo's first foldable device for some time now. But the upcoming release was officially confirmed by Vivo yesterday. The teasers and promos are already posted on Vivo China's social media pages. Plus, Vivo is also coming out with their first tablet called the Vivo Pad.

The foldable Vivo device is titled Vivo X Fold. The teasers showcase two X Folds side-by-side (half-folded) in the shape of a butterfly. Vivo promised more details on March 28, presumably when the product will be announced. But from the leaked schematics we've seen, the phone is closely modeled after the form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold. But its camera island is colossal.

Stretching across the width, it contains a metal ring and a matrix of four lenses inside. Three are standard cameras, but the fourth shooter is a periscope zoom lens. The periscope-telephoto camera is commonplace in modern traditional flagships, but the Vivo X Fold will be the first foldable to adopt it. And if it's any guide, Vivo isn't cutting corners on the hardware (a trusted phone leaked as also described the phone's specs similarly.)

Moving away from the latest Vivo Fold mobile, the promos for the Vivo Pad are far more revealing. We're given marketing images and even some specifications for the Pad. Its design is inspired by Apple iPad's sharp, flat edges and matte blue color.

Two cameras are encased inside its ring/square housing. A magnetic port can securely attach an external keyboard or cover. The screen itself stretches at least 10" across and supports a stylus. Unlike Samsung or Apple's typical slim stylus pens, Vivo's interpretation resembles a drawing tablet pen more. It runs a new Ocean OS UI on top of Android. We should find out more on Monday.
