Vivo has its first foldable flagship slated for launch later today. Dubbed Vivo X Fold, the device has already been teased and previewed on Vivo’s social media pages. And before its debut today, a last-minute leak brings us the pricing for the Vivo X Fold.
The foldable market remains enthusiast-exclusive primarily since it’s a novel form factor. But another obstacle to broader adoption of foldable is the eye-watering prices. The current-gen Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 was launched at CNY 14,000 (~ Rs. 405,000.) Vivo X Fold is its direct competitor, and its base model is priced at a more aggressive CNY 11,999 (~ Rs. 347,500.) The fully-specced edition costs CNY 12,999 (~ Rs. 376,000.)
The pale blue colorway has been featured in official promos already. But per the rumor mill, it will also be offered in gray and black finishes. The gray edition has a fabric, leathery texture with stitching running across the length. Four lenses (three traditional and one periscope zoom camera) are housed inside a ring, encased in a black accent.
The X foldable has similar proportions to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The new Vivo mobile's cover screen is a tall 6.53” 1080P OLED with a hole punched through its middle. Unfold the device to reveal the 8” flexible screen.
Both displays operate on a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, so switching between them shouldn’t be jarring. It’s powered by a 4600 mAh battery and Snapdragon 9 Gen 1 chip. We’ll learn more when the Vivo X Fold is unveiled today.
