A few weeks ago, rumors of a new Vivo Fold phone started circling the tech blogs. Tipsters were under the impression that the device was to be called X Fold S; its most recent appearance on the TENAA certification link suggests otherwise.

Next generation Vivo Fold featuring on TENAA implies that the launch is imminent in China. According to the document, The manufacturer calls it Vivo X Fold+ 5G. In addition to the name, it outlines some exciting details about the upcoming foldable.

For starters, 5G added to the moniker entails a 5G-enabled processor alongside antenna bands N41, N78, N79, N1, and N28. The phone is now confirmed to use Android 12 OS out of the box, probably skinned with Origin OS Ocean.

The certificate also specifies the latest X Vivo mobile's battery capacity; the X Fold Plus 5G will use the same 4600mAh battery and 66-Watt charging rate as the original X Fold. Both halves of the fold will house 2300mAh cells each for a total of 4600mAh.

Former leaks suggest that the engine under X Fold Plus 5G's hood is Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip — an SoC based on a 4nm manufacturing process for minimum battery retention and flagship-level horsepower. It's a significant step up from X Fold's 8 Gen 1 Chip in terms of power-to-performance. Specs are not yet official, so take these details with a pinch of salt.

The official announcement of the Vivo X Fold+ 5G cannot be far behind now that it has been certified. The foldable will likely be born and retail in China only, as with the last-gen X Fold. We'll keep you posted if anything new develops.
