Vivo’s flagship X80 series is headed for the global market, right on the heels of its recent China-first launch. The Vivo X80 Pro and X80 will make their international debut in Malaysia and will also arrive to Pakistan soon after. Official teasers and landing pages are already posted on Vivo Malaysia’s website. And we have the launch timeline to report.
To no one’s surprise, the global launch of the Vivo X80 Series will be a virtual event. It is slated for May 8, 2022, at 3:00 PM. And you can tune into the broadcast on Vivo’s Facebook, YouTube, Tiktok, or Twitter pages. Pre-orders in Pakistan to start soon after the global announcement.
Vivo has sourced the processors for the phones from two different chipmakers. The Vivo X80 has the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC at its heart. It’s hooked up to a 4500 mAh battery, powered by ultra-fast 80W charging tech. No wireless charging is offered. Multiple UFS 3.1 storage trims round off this high-performance hardware.
We’re looking at a roomy 6.78” AMOLED display. It peaks at 1500 nits of eye-searing brightness, 1080P resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. The edges have a subtle waterfall design, and an optical fingerprint scanner resides under the panel.
Lastly, the camera system is co-engineered with ZEISS optics (who also provided a T* lens coating to minimize glare.) The primary shooter on the upcoming addition to the Vivo price list is an OIS-assisted 50MP shooter, paired with two 12MP telephoto and ultra-wide cameras. A 32MP front camera completes the setup.
The Vivo X80 Pro is the premium, fully specced-out, no corners-cut flagship. Its AMOLED screen uses cutting-edge LTPO 3.0 technology to adjust the 120Hz refresh rate dynamically. The resolution is QHD+, the brightness hits 1500 nits, and HDR10+ content is supported. It has the exact dimensions and design as the regular X80, but the fingerprint reader below the display is ultrasonic.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 handles all number-crunching. And a 4700 mAh keeps the X80 Pro running. The wired charging peaks at 80W, while wireless charging supports up to 50W. The main camera is stabilized with Gimbal OIS. Plus, the camera cluster includes an advanced periscope-telephoto lens for up to 5x lossless zooming.
