Vivo Y01 Officially Announced With Entry-level Specs; Long Battery Life, Lightweight Design

Vivo Y01 is the cheapest smartphone in the brand’s catalog. The younger sibling to the recently launched Vivo Y15s was leaked earlier this year. Vivo has finally rolled it out to the global market, and we have the features and specs to report.

The Vivo Y01 is an entry-level device offering only the most barebones, essential features. It’s crafted from plastic and comes in Sapphire Blue, and Elegant Black finishes. Vivo has decorated the casing with a geometric pattern.

We find a squarish housing in the corner featuring a single camera and an LED flash. It’s a solitary unremarkable 8MP lens. Turn the phone over to find an even more modest 5MP front camera. It’s embedded inside a notched display.

The Y01 is a 6.51” IPS LCD that peaks at a standard 720P resolution. A built-in bluelight filter protects your eyes. The new budget Vivo mobile weighs 178g and measures 8.28mm in depth. There’s no fingerprint security, but a 2D Face Access feature is available.

The engine inside the Vivo Y01 is the old-gen MediaTek Helio P35 — a low-end chip. It’s hooked up to a massive 5000 mAh battery that charges over an outdated micro-USB interface. Vivo offers it in 2GB or 3GB memory and 32GB of storage.

It can be expanded via microSD storage. And the FunTouchOS 11.1 x Android Go (designed for entry-level phones) powers the Vivo Y01. The pricing is yet to be announced.
