Their plans to replace the six-month-old Y03 are already in motion and soon we’ll see Vivo Y04 take the hot seat in their sub-entry-tier ‘Y0’ portfolio. It just made an entry last night on the IMEI database, which probably means we might see it launch at any moment.
They assigned the model code ‘V2430’ to this phone, and for the market name, they went with Vivo Y04. There isn’t much to tell in IMEI’s listing, except the fact that Y04 exists and they are working on it.
Phones like this Y04 rarely get meaningful upgrades in the low sub-entry segment over the past generation, so it might be a good idea if we look at the specs of Y03 to build context for Vivo's new 4G phone. If you aren’t familiar with Y03, it’s available in Pakistan, and this overview might help you decide if it’s a phone for you.
Vivo Y03 is a Helio G85 user and gets a screen size of 6.56.” There’s HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, so it’s smooth with clear visuals. And then we have a slightly obtrusive notch at the top that hides a 5MP selfie snapper. At ~528 nits, this screen is plenty bright as well.
A 5000mAh cell and 15W wired charging are standard in this segment. There’s no fingerprint reader or NFC. We do, however, see dual-band WiFi and IP54 dust and waterproofing. The camera setup here is just as ordinary. Although it seems there are two lenses, there’s only one functioning camera with a 13MP sensor. It will be the same recipe for Vivo Y04, of course, with a few upgrades sprinkled on top.
