Vivo Y15s Quietly Launched in Pakistan with Entry-level Specs and a Budget-friendly Price

Vivo has been steadily rolling out new Y-series phones ever since we entered 2022. They range from budget 5G to entry-level models like the recent Vivo Y21. And one such entry-level phone, the Y15s, quietly landed in Pakistan today. Vivo didn’t make any announcements. But the phone is already in stores nationwide.

Since it’s a low-end device, the specs and performance are hardly competitive. But Vivo Y15s includes most of the essentials you need from a modern cheap phone. The 5000 mAh inside the Vivo Y15s delivers all-day battery life. It doesn’t support quick charging, but the phone can recharge your other devices.

Everything runs on the MediaTek Helio P35 — a budget chip that came out in 2018. Not only will it show its age pretty soon, but the limited 32GB storage also feels out of place in 2022. You only get 3GB of memory for multitasking. And the Funtouch OS x Android 11 Go Edition powers the phone. The trimmed Android Go is designed to run on older, low-performance hardware.

The display is an equally unremarkable 6.51” IPS LCD, featuring a max 720P resolution. However, Vivo has built a dedicated Eye Protection Mode into the Vivo Y15s. Plus, a notch containing the front camera bleeds into the screen.

At 179g, Vivo's new budget model has a very lightweight footprint. Naturally, it’s crafted from plastic with a pinstripe texture on the back. We find a sleek power button pulling double duty as an instant thumbprint scanner on the frame. Also, a hybrid triple-slot allows for up to a 1 TB of storage expansion. Vivo Y15s comes in Wave Green and Mystic Blue finishes.

Lastly, we have a dual-camera embedded in a raised square on the back. Its narrow 13MP f/2.2 primary and 2MP macro shooters are nothing to write home about either. But Vivo has preloaded the Y15s with enough shooting modes to get the best out of this camera experience. It’s currently retailing for PKR 23,999 in Pakistan.
